  6. Dear PC-DeskTeam User:

  8. We thank you for your interest in our products.  PC-DeskTeam is one of
  9. the most popular desktop organizers and the first SHAREWARE desktop
  10. organizer.
  11.  
  12. To assist you in learning and evaluating the program we have included
  13. a program named "MANUAL" that will allow you to select various topics
  14. from a menu.  You may then view them on your monitor or print them. 
  15. To run this program place the distribution diskette in drive A and
  16. enter the following commands:

  21. Due to the size and complexity of the User's Guide we no longer
  22. include one on the distribution diskette.  You will be able to learn
  23. how to use the program by reading the Quick Start Guide.  A complete
  24. printed User's Guide is provided when you register.

  26. We recommend that you first print and thoroughly read the Quick Start
  27. Guide contained on the distribution diskette before you attempt to use
  28. the program.  Also, read the section discussing the Program License
  29. Agreement and the Terms & Conditions.  Use of this product indicates
  30. your acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.

  32. Take some time to scan the Product Catalog to obtain information about
  33. other products that we sell.  These include a variety of memory
  34. resident programs that complement PC-DeskTeam and a number of programs
  35. that assist you in the management of Pop Ups and TSRs.

  37. Registration
  38. ------------

  40. We market PC-DeskTeam using the Shareware concept, therefore you are
  41. free to copy and share unmodified copies of the program with your
  42. friends and associates. If you decide to use the program we would like
  43. to encourage you to support the Shareware concept by becoming a
  44. registered user.  The section discussing Shareware will provide you
  45. with further details.  You can print an order form from the "MANUAL"
  46. program.  Registration provides the following benefits:

  48.      1.   A Printed User's Guide.
  49.      2.   The PC-DeskTeam Configuration Utility.
  50.      3.   Programs to remove PC-DeskTeam and other memory resident
  51.           programs from memory.
  52.      4.   The Calendar and Alarm display program.
  53.      5.   The newest version of the program.
  54.      6.   One year free support.
  55.      7.   Reduced upgrade fees.
  56.      8.   Subscription to the DeskTeam Newsletter.
  57.      9.   And a $5 commission for each person who registers using your
  58.           registration number as a reference.

  60. After receiving your registration diskette make sure that you insert
  61. your registration number onto the disk.  Read the chapter discussing

  72. PLEASE DO NOT distribute copies of the Registration Diskette.  You may
  73. make a Shareware distribution diskette by performing the following
  74. commands:

  76.      1.   Insert your registration number into the program by using
  77.           the configuration utility.

  79.      2.   Place a newly formatted diskette in Drive B
  80.  
  81.      3.   Place the registration diskette in drive A and then perform
  82.           the following commands:

  88. Printing Or Viewing The Manual
  89. ------------------------------

  91. The program named "MANUAL" allows you to view the Quick Start Guide
  92. and various other topics on your monitor or printer.  It is necessary
  93. to use this program since all the documentation is specially
  94. formatted.  If you have entered the command
  95.

  98. to read this file then you can immediately access the Quick Start
  99. Guide from the menu.  You can also run the program "MANUAL" to view or
  100. print it.

  102. Perform the following steps to view or print the Quick Start Guide:
  103.  
  104. 1.   Insert the PC-DeskTeam distribution diskette into                
  105.      drive A.
  106.  
  107. 2.   Enter the following commands:

  112. 3.   Select the topic Quick Start and press the F3 key to print or <-'
  113.      to view.
  114.

  116. PLEASE NOTE:  Verify that your printer is set to print at 66 lines per
  117. page or the Quick Start Guide will not be formatted correctly.

  120. Conversion Utility
  121. ------------------
  122.  
  123. A registration diskette contains a program named "CONVERT" that will
  124. convert your version 1 DESKTEAM.CFG & PRINTER.CFG configuration files
  125. into the version 2 files DESKTEAM.C20, PRINTER.C20.
  126.  
  127. To execute the program be sure that the following files are located on
  128.

  136. the same diskette or subdirectory:
  137.  
  138.                DESKTEAM.CFG
  139.                PRINTER.CFG
  140.                DESKTEAM.C20

  144. Set your default drive and subdirectory to the one where the above
  145. files are located and execute the command:

  147.                CONVERT
  148.  
  149. The program will display two options.  Press 1 to convert the
  150. DESKTEAM.CFG file and press 2 to convert the PRINTER.CFG file.
  151.  
  152. The default version 1 printer definition will be stored as printer
  153. USER 1 in the version 2 configuration files.  Refer to the discussion
  154. of the PC-DeskTeam CONFIG Utility located in the Appendix of the
  155. User's Guide for further information.

  157. After this process is completed you can delete the following version 1
  158. files:
  159.  
  160.                DELETE    *.CFG
  161.                DELETE    *.DOC
  162.                DELETE    INSTALL.COM

  165. Printer Configurations
  166. ----------------------
  167.  
  168. The Printer Utility of PC-DeskTeam is able to select special
  169. formatting features of dot matrix and laser printers.  We have
  170. included a variety of printer configurations for some popular
  171. printers.  Run the program named "PRINTERS" to list the names of the
  172. available printers.  The PC-DeskTeam configuration utility allows you
  173. to create your own printer configurations.  The configuration utility
  174. is provided on the registration diskette.

  177. Install & Remove TSR Programs
  178. -----------------------------
  179.  
  180. We have obtained permission from PC Magazine to include 3 programs
  181. with PC-DeskTeam that allow you to remove PC-DeskTeam and other memory
  182. resident TSRs from memory.  Read the Topic "Install & Remove TSR" on
  183. the Manual menu for further information.  These programs are only
  184. provided with a registration diskette.
